The Pottawattamie County Emergency Management Commission is announcing a hiring process for the position of Emergency Management Specialist. This is a full-time position and is required to perform duties on an on-call basis as needed. Pottawattamie County Emergency Management Commission is an equal employment opportunity employer.

Essential Job Duties

Provide program/administrative support for Pottawattamie County’s Emergency Management Agency. Assists in program development/maintenance; provides training/technical assistance to local agencies for plan development, recovery, and response activities; facilitates maintenance of records/data bases; assists with preparation/maintenance of program budgets; coordinates interagency projects; maintains records/prepares reports in compliance with laws, regulations, grant requirements/procedures; coordinates volunteer services. Minimum Qualifications

Documented Incident Command and National Incident Management System training. An Associate’s degree in Emergency Management, Community/Regional Planning, Business Administration, Fire Service, Emergency Medical Services, Healthcare or other related field and one year experience in public sector emergency management, private sector contingency planning/ risk management, military disaster preparedness operations OR three years’ experience as outlined OR any equivalent combination of education and experience that will have provided the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Hiring Process

Applications will be reviewed for qualifications and experience. All applicants will be notified of their status in the hiring process. Candidates will be subject to pre-employment interviews and screenings including a background check, physical exam and drug screen.

Hourly Salary Range

Effective July 1, 2017: $20.76 - $25.70
